RotoJam is a collective of rotoscoping animators brought together by a shared passion for experimentation and visual storytelling. Led by animator Ashley Lo Russo, the project invites each artist to independently animate a portion of a shared live-action clip—infusing it with their own unique style and sensibility. The result is a dynamic patchwork of animated sequences, stitched together by Lo Russo into a creative whole.
As a contributing member of RotoJam, I’ve embraced the challenge of using rotoscoping not just as a technique, but as a space for innovation. I aimed to expand the expressive possibilities of motion and texture, striking a balance between realism and abstraction.
Working alongside a diverse group of animators has pushed me to experiment in ways I wouldn’t have pursued alone. These clips stand as a testament to what’s possible when creative voices come together: each distinct, yet harmonized through intention and curiosity.
